Partnership with parents

At Peter Pan we know that parents are the primary educators of their children, and know what their children need. A strong relationship between parents and pre-school is crucial to the child's well-being, development and progress.

We keep parents informed about activities and events through regular newsletters, and displays on our noticeboards. Plans for the week are displayed and things that have happened during the day are written on the noticeboard for parents to view. Parents are encouraged to talk to staff and their child's key person daily, and to keep them informed of significant learning or events at home via WOW stickers and slips. Parents can also volunteer to help at pre-school once their child has settled in.

Since we are a community, not-for-profit organisation, it is also essential to the success of the pre-school that parents are involved as much as possible, and many parents are involved in the committee or simply helping at events.

During your child’s time with us we use an online Learning Journey called Tapestry to record your child’s development. We take photographs regularly and add observations.

It is a great tool for us to work in partnership with you to capture this time in your child’s life.

You can add to your child’s Learning Journal, sharing photographs and news about what your child has been doing at home or any other times. We can then share their news with their friends and Keyperson, strengthening the link between home and Pre-school.

As a parent/carer you can access your child’s learning journey via the web page or an App that is available through your App store.

You can find a step by step guide on downloading and using the App on Android here and on IOS here.

You can access the website by following here.

Tapestry meets all of the current GDPR regulations and is only accessed by staff and parents.

You account is initially set up by the Pre-school sending an activation link to parents/ carers.
